Are you ready for fall? If the summer heat is getting to you, Clark’s Car Care is going to list some tips to help keep your vehicle cooler during the hot summer days. Please note that these tips do not make it safe for you to leave your children or your pets inside the car, so don’t do that. Let’s talk about ways you can keep the interior cooler and the engine’s temperature normal.
Use Shade
You already know this, but it bears repeating: Use shade. Whenever you can, park in a parking space that provides shade to prevent the sun from beating down on your automobile. If you cannot find a space with shade, put up shades in the windshield and the windows of your vehicle to block the sun. Also, make sure to close the sunroof or moonroof shade to block the sun.
Use Garages
A garage is a good source of shade, so use garages whenever you can. Parking your home’s garage and park in public garages when you are out and about. These garages keep the sun off your vehicle so that the interior stays cooler. It still will be cool enough for your kids or pets, however. Garages also provide ventilation for air circulation and a security guard to protect your vehicle.
Cover the Interior
You can also prevent your car’s interior from scalding you by covering it once you have parked the vehicle. Grab some rags or old towels and cover the things that you touch. This includes the steering wheel, the seats, the dashboard, and the center console. Once you get back into the car, you can quickly pull off the rags or towels and you are ready to go with cool components.
Open the Windows
You can also increase the ventilation through your vehicle and give the heat away to escape by cracking the windows slightly when you park your automobile. When you are done with your errands and are ready to get back into the car, open all of the doors and allow the vehicle to air out before you get in it.
Schedule a Service
Finally, schedule a service appointment for your vehicle for an air conditioning check and a cooling system inspection. This gives us the chance to make sure that your air conditioner is running efficiently. An efficient air conditioner can cool off the interior quickly. In addition, we can inspect the cooling system to make sure you have plenty of coolant so your engine will not overheat.
