Car Air Conditioning Problems That Will Leave You Hot This Summer

The last thing we want here at Clark’s Car Care is for you to be uncomfortable, which is why we believe in total transparency when we service or repair your car, truck, utility vehicle, or van. You might end up uncomfortable this summer in a way you wouldn’t have imagined if your car’s AC goes on the blink. This can happen to anyone, especially if you’ve never had your air conditioner serviced or can’t remember the last time you had it serviced. Let’s talk about car AC problems that will leave you hot this summer unless they are addressed now.

Refrigerant

Your refrigerant level should be checked now to make sure you have enough refrigerant throughout the summer. This is the gas that cools off the air before it blows through the vents. The refrigerant level can be affected by evaporation, which occurs naturally when you use your vehicle’s air conditioner. The level can also be reduced if you have refrigerant leaking from the air conditioning system via the AC hoses. The most common place the refrigerant leaks from is at the connectors.

Compressor

The compressor has two primary functions that will affect how cold the air is that is blowing through your vents. First, the compressor circulates the refrigerant through the system much like your heart circulates your blood through your body. Second, the compressor compresses the gas, which is the original form of refrigerant, to turn into a cooling liquid so you get refreshing, cold air blowing through your car’s vents. The compressor will break down if it isn’t used regularly.

Electrical System

Finally, your car’s air conditioning system has its own electrical system that is a full-service system to the AC. If there is anything going on inside the electrical system, you might end up with a dead air conditioner. You might press the button to turn it on but nothing will happen. The electrical system wiring could have a short in it, or there could be an issue with the relays or other electrical parts. You might even have a blown AC fuse in the fuse box of your automobile.
